 Phuket Airpark President Khun Suchard
has purchased a significant amount of land for the Airpark, and approval
was received from the DCA on 15 March 2008. The Grand Opening Party will
be in January 2009. The clubhouse is ready with some guest rooms. The
land is on the East coast in a lovely quiet area. There is a 500 meter
airstrip for Ultralights, and we are planning to extend to 800 meters with overrun on both ends in the future. Then we will build
some hangars, a few bungalows, plant some trees, put in a little
restaurant. The Zenair aircraft has been purchased as well as 3 additional
small aircraft that will be coming. Members are welcome to join the club
(5,000 Baht per year). Members will receive a photo ID membership card. We also will
welcome people to base aircraft at the field (which will be much cheaper
than at Phuket airport). This should encourage a young and active general
aviation community around the island of Phuket and Krabi. Previously,
there were no small airports and no general aviation activity in this area. Phuket
Airpark will promote General Aviation in SOUTHERN Thailand. Phuket
currently has only one commercial airport for commercial flights. Thailand is a very
friendly country to visit. There are a large number of
airports in the country, and the Department of Aviation maintains a high standard
of aviation safety. If you would to join the Phuket Flying Club,
